Javier Matías Henríquez

Senior Consultant in innovation and technology. Holder of a Master's Degree in Educational Management, based in Santiago, Dominican Republic.

Hundreds of challenges solved, across dozens of organisations and companies. My work has always sat at the same point: where technology meets institutions and the people who have to decide. For more than 20 years I have advised Santo Domingo Cyber Park (PCSD), and for 10 years I led the Northern Region of the Institute of Technology of the Americas (ITLA). They are two different views of the same question: how a country builds technological capacity.

In 2021 I served as CEO of the Asociación de Comerciantes e Industriales de Santiago (ACIS), working from the private-sector side: with business owners and merchants who needed concrete results, not diagnoses. That combination — public institution, technical academia and private sector — is what lets me step into any of the three worlds knowing how decisions actually get made in each.

That experience rests on a Master's Degree in Educational Management and on two international programmes that shaped how I work: Quality Management in Japan (2005) and Technology and Innovation Management in South Korea (2011). That is where the insistence on method comes from, on the detail of the operation, and on not confusing the intention to innovate with having actually done it.

Today, through Matías Consulting, I work with institutions and companies across four fronts: innovation and institutional transformation, AI applied to business processes, leadership and innovation coaching, and technology and innovation law. That last front is not a separate chapter: bringing legal judgement in from the beginning is what allows technology decisions to be made knowing exactly where the risk sits.
